You've received a lot of great advice. Excessive crying is a thing many senior cats do. I've live through two kitties doing this!

It is indeed more a sign of deafness than anything else. The cat cries to echo off its surroundings to determine where s/he his. However it can be a sign of senility as well. Frankly the cat "forgets" where s/he is and wails in attempt to figure it out. I experienced both with my old kitty, Daisy, and would seek her out and cuddle her in the middle of the night when she wailed.

Sad to say there is not a lot you can do to stop the crying in elderly cats. I also had a kitty who would cry, but when I called, "Here Beth, I'm here" she'd stop and find me and settle down.

Best wishes. It is hard, but just think of the many years they've give you their love.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
