I would talk to your vet about the possibility of a short-term tranquilizer that you could slip into whatever is the ultimate kitty treat. Or you may need to see if you can borrow a have-a-heart trap from the humane society and see if you can trap him to get to the vet. If you have a mobile vet in the area, you might see if your vet will refer you to him/her for stitch removal.

After the next vet visit, the cat is going to need to get some intensive re-training as far as the carrier and coming when called are concerned. You may want to check and see if you can find some articles about training your cat on the internet.
