Separating the cats for a time may be the best answer. Then you can slowly and gradually re-introduce them and see what happens.

In my opinion, it would be very odd for 2 cats that get along well to suddenly start fighting. Especially with no changes in the household.

I still would not rule out some kind of health issue contributing to this problem.
