My aunt and my late uncle had gotten a cat a few years ago. It never really seemed to care much for anybody but my uncle. Since he passed away two years ago, the cat basically runs and hides from everybody, including my aunt. When hiding, it will growl at whoever is near it. My aunt is nervous when around it, especially after the incident this past summer where the cat saw another cat outside a window and then turned on my aunt, attacking her legs.

Is there anything that my aunt can try to calm the cat and get it to not behave so hostile towards everybody?
