Long ago, I had a foster who remained nameless for a long, long time. Finally my roomie at the time and I sat down with the cat between us over the course of a couple of days and just reeled off anything that came to mind. Human names, colors, adjectives, feelings. The cat seemed to like one, so we tried it out over a day or two, and it stuck - She became Sassy.



Or once with with a litter of fosters to name, I went through a dictionary and wrote down any thing that jumped out. Came up with "Furgus" (fergus) and Brusier that way. When yet another brown tiger tabby kitten showed up that year, he became Ditto.



Some of my favorite names have been little more then jokes -



Romeo, my beloved boy named after the doomed lover of fame

Mr. Butterbean, a child's name for a yellow tabby

Genus Meowus - he was really smart

Edger Meowin' Poe - a talker

Precious - named for her high adoption cost

Wuzzy - "Fuzzy-wuzzy was a bear" - she is super plush

Pizzy - a blend of 'p-- and vinegar' and er, um, witchy, yeah..

Boticelli - after the Italian artist, and the bot fly that was eating his neck away at the age of 6 weeks.

Elizabeth - named after me since I did so much rescue that year (not my idea)



Its kinda like naming a baby only you don't have the built in months and months to try things out first.



But you describe a cat with some poise and dignity, so may I suggest you go through names of women from great novels?
