Have you gotten the cat or the kitten yet? I think if it would be find to get a older cat and a kitten. I would probably get the older cat first. Let him get comfortable with your home with out a pesty kitten jumping all over him. Then once he is settled in I would get a kitten. When you get the kitten confine he to one room. Don't let him out to meet the big cat right away. This way they can smell each other threw the door. If you want you can switch them. Let the kitten out and leave the big cat in the room. Others can probably explain this better.
