I got a five week old kitten a week and a half ago (she's now about 6 weeks old), and my adult cat hasn't yet accepted her.

We keep the kitten in a separate room, and allowed them to sniff each other's items (toys, beds, etc.) to smell each others' scents.

They're allowed out together for short supervised visits that are getting longer each day. At first my adult cat, Butch, hissed at her a lot, but that's quieted down a bit. Now he only hisses if she gets too close to him -- and I'm always there to make sure nothing happens.

Well, tonight my kitten wasn't really paying attention, and got too close to him -- he hissed and swatted at her a few times. No one got hurt, but I worry because Butch is a HUGE cat, and Sunny's still tiny.

I can't let them go at it yet, though, because Sunny is just too small, and doesn't yet have the sense to understand when Butch doesn't want her around.

My question is, how long will I have to keep them separated? It's getting quite tedious managing the whole situation. Also, how well do those ComfortZone plugins work? When do you think Sunny will be big enough to defend herself?

Thatks for any tips, and sorry for the novel!
