Your cat needs a vet check just to be sure there is no continuing underlying problem causing her to poop where she shouldn't. I suspect that it's behavioral, but you do want to rule out medical porblems.

Most cats do need two litterboxes - one to poop in and one to pee in. If she is consistantly using the same spot for pooping, you might put a third litterbox there for a while and move it closer and closer to the poopy box or you might want to cover the spot she poops on with foil or a carpet runner (plastic thing that protects carpet) upside down. You can also just re-train the cat to the box entirely by isolating her in a small room with just the box, food, water and bedding. After she uses the box consistantly you can allow her in increasingly larger areas of the house.

You need to thouroughly deodorize wherever the cat has been pooping. Nature's Miracle is highly recommended as is simple green. It is the smell of the "accidents" that causes a cat to reuse the place.

Check into using Feliway, a spray that mimics the happy scent cats leave when they rub their check against something. You can get it from your vet or from Cat Faeries at http://www.catfaeries.com
If you visit the website, you will see a phone number that you can call and for a fee discuss your cat's problems with someone. The person who does this is very knowlegeable and it may be worth the $$ for you. Feliway works mostly in cases of urination, however. There is also a product called the Comfort Zone Plug-in with Feliway that can also help.

Finally, if all else fails, ask you vet about using an antianxiety medication such as Buspar or Prozac. These very often work, however the decision to prescribe them will rest solely with your veterinarian who will be able to monitor the dosage and side effects.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
