I don't know how expensive it is. Because you may have to use it long-term, you may want to try full-strength at first and if it works, after a couple weeks to a month, mix it with regular litter if it is very expensive... Even if you mix, you'd want more of that than regular, I'd think, to affect him. Full strength would be best, if it isn't too expensive.

Something else to try is a thicker plastic (than dry cleaning bags) from a hardware/Lowe's/Home Depot store and cover your furniture like a slip cover. Not long-term, but it will stop him temporarily from using your couch. Maybe do it in conjunction with the Cat Attract to get him used to using the box with a litter he really likes and his favorite spot blocked with plastic...
