Hi Anita! Welcome to the forum.
Bringing toys is not a usual behavior, but it is not abnormal. He is probably thinking of them as prey that he has found and is bringing them to you to "share". Or maybe for some reason when he brought you a toy you responded in a way that really reinforced the behavoir.
Most cats do wake up their humans, unfortunately. This is a natural behavior too. The best thing to do is to try to ignore him. Although it may be hard, gently picking him up without cuddling or talking and putting him in another room with the door closed for five minutes might also discourage the behavior. Some people keep a spray bottle by the bed and squirt the cat, but it is best to somehow not let the cat see the spray bottle or he will connect it with you. -----
