Hi Jenn,



This sounds like a medical problem rather than a behavioral issue. I think your kitty is salivating heavily and it's going to take an exam by a vet to find out what is going on.



Your post is disturbing to me because one of the reasons a cat will start salivating is exposure to something toxic. I sincerely hope that this isn't what happened, but it's impossible to tell without an exam and diagnostic tests.



Cats tend to salivate when experiencing nauses and that is also a concern. It's possible that something serious is going on here. For this reason I recommend contacting a vet immediately, possibly even an ER vet if yours is already closed for the day.



Excessive thirst can also indicate kidney issues or diabetes, both of which are treatable once diagnosis is made.



Please seek medical attention for your baby and let us know what happens.
