>>Can you recommend some books on the subject and maybe where a person goes to even look for a holistic vet?
I would start with the book Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats by Richard Pitcairn DVM and Susan Hubble Pitcairn. It is excellent and includes many different diets, including a couple of VERY simple ones you can make when you are pressed for time.
>> Is it time consuming to fix a raw food diet? I wonder if this can be done in addition to their regular food or does it replace it? I leave for work at 4AM and wouldn't have time to fix them raw food before leaving for work in the morning.
I only make the cats' food about once every two or three weeks. I prepare it, I put it in tupperware type containers, and I store it in the freezer. Then I just pull each one out the night before, dish it out in the AM for their morning meal, and pop it in the fridge, then use the rest for their evening meal. It really couldn't be easier! I use the recipe Fatty Feline Fare from Dr. Pitcairn's book.
I gave suggestions on finding a holistic vet in my last post.
GOOD LUCK! This is a great journey! ----- Christie Keith Caber Feidh Scottish Deerhounds Holistic Husbandry since 1986 Meet the Felines!
