I actually had a similar experience with a beautiful kitten about 5 years ago. She was gorgeous. One day, she became lethargic and I knew something was terribly wrong. ON THE WAY to the vet, her ears gradually turned purple, like they were bruising. She became more and more disoriented and weak over the course of the 15 minute drive. When we arrived, the vet informed me she had Feline Leukemia. I made the decision to have her put to sleep. It was terribly painful for me, but I feared so much more for Bella. I had never seen anything like it before, and had no idea the virus could strike so quickly once it got going. Obviously, as the one respondent says, secondary infections are deadly to these sweet babies. I am so sorry for your loss, and am sure your little one is now jumping and playing somewhere, free from pain and illness. Thank the stars you were lucky enough to feel her presence, if even for a short time, and that she faced a humane and relatively painless passing.
