I have a very overweight kitty who also has asthma and is prome to getting diabetes if he doesn't lose weight. I was feeding him the Iams formula for 'large' cats, but it didn't help so Jackson's vet switched him to a prescription diet food. I also have another cat who is perfect weight, but the vet said the food would not cause him to lose weight. However, it has also not caused Jackson to lose any weight. I am feeding him the amount prescribed by the vet, but he's only lost half a pound in the year I've been feeding the diet food. Does anyone know if he will begin to lose additional weight with further long term use of the food? Along with the prescription diet I am slowly getting him to exercise more and he has become more interested in playing. Also, is obesity a common problem in British Shorthairs? Thanks in advance!
