The easiest way to check if the cat is in heat is to scratch her fanny right above the tail. If she is in heat, she should go into position for mating. Which is crouching with her tail down and to the side for mating. She will also make a purrrrrt sound. And move her back legs like she is walking. She should also be calling for boys. If she isn't going any of this, I would take her to a Vet, yours or another and have her checked out. Mood changes that drastic are cause for concern.
