I work at a pet food supply store and have learned a lot about pet foods as a result. Personally I will feed nothing BUT holistic food to my cats (registered show cats). I wrote an article that compared holistic to grocery store brands (and even some mid to high quality non-holistic brands). The link is below.

If a food allergy is suspected I highly recommend you try a holistic food with LAMB as the main ingredient. Lamb is much easier for cats (and dogs) to digest (ie keep down!). I can't think of a holistic brand with lamb in it off the top of my head, but Eagle Pak is likely to have one.

I feed my cats Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. It's an excellent holistic brand with fabulous value. Not overly expensive, very little known, but fabulous. My cats love it. Dry or Wet. Though I prefer to feed Merrick brand wet food. Look at the ingredients in Merrick! Your cats will eat better than you do, guaranteed!
