My 8 year old tabby cat has always had a slight weight problem. We thought she had worms when she was a kitten, but she didn't. It started to get bad when she was just a couple of years old. She's never been overly active, even as a kitten. She has ballooned up to 19 lbs now! It's so bad that her stomach drags the floor and it moves back and forth when she runs. I'm afraid her little legs are going to give out on her one day.

Feeding is hard because I also have a 10 year old cat who is only 8 lbs. I feed them out of the same food bowl, senior food usually. I've tried a food that I think Iams makes for multiple cats that normal size cats won't gain/lose weight and fatter cats will supposedly lose weight. It didn't seem to make a difference.

Both the cats are too set in their habits to make them eat out of different bowls. The thing is also that the fat cat doesn't eat very much. She does drink ALOT of water. I've asked the vet before, but he suggested just to give them diet cat food.

I'm really worried about her health or that she'll have a heart attack one of these days. I try getting her outside to exercise, but she's afraid of the front yard because we live on a busy street and the back yard is out because of our dog.

Any suggestions?

Mindy
