Hi,

The best thing you can do is work towards starting to feed canned food only. Dry foods, even "diet" foods, are high in carbs and they really put on weight. Canned food is high in protein and low in carbs, which is much closer to what is a natural diet for cats. They cannot even digest carbs properly.

I'm assuming that you have been free-feeding dry food. You must start cutting back and eventually get this obese cat on a totally canned food diet. Her life is in danger and she is also at extremely high risk for diabetes.

I know this won't be easy, but you really have no choice.

Please keep us updated.

Regards,
PHKitkat
