Hi There,

I'm glad you took your cat in and that she isn't seriously ill.

I have a few cats here that I cannot pill either. If they need an antibiotic I usually end up giving injections. Liquid meds work for some cats, but some of them taste really bad and my cats will still fight. Hope it works out better for your baby!

Most adult cats will eat a 6 ounce can of food daily, 1/2 can twice daily, maybe less if they also get dry food. My cat, Ella, is a little tiny thing at 6 pounds but she has an appetite much bigger than she is and seems to eat as much as the others. All cats are different though. It's best if cats eat two meals daily, rather than just one. Eating just once daily leaves the stomach empty for many, many hours at a time and this can cause vomiting or other problems.

Upper respiratory problems often resolve themselves without treatment. Most of these infections are viral, not bacterial, so antibiotics won't help. However, an infection can also be a mix of viral and bacterial and some vets like to prescribe antibiotics, just in case. BTW, I always give antibiotics when there is food in the cat's stomach. Otherwise some of them are likely to cause stomach upset.

Take care, and please keep us updated.

Regards,
PHKitkat
