hi guys,

my sister has a siamese who is about 13 years old. He's on his second bout with anorexia (she's forcefeeding him now), vomiting (stomach full or empty, doesn't matter), gagging, dehydration, and weight loss. His bloodwork shows that he has high results in: total protein, albumin, BUN, creatinine, calcium, amylase, sodium Osmolality, magnesium, Neutrophils, eosiniphils. he has a low platelet count. Ultrasound was inconclusive. Xrays negative. He had a thyroid test january 2004, which was normal.

He's always been a picky eater, is wound tighter that he should be, and tends toward vomiting. This is his second bout with this and the vets are clueless. They are testing for Pancreatitis, and then sending her to a specialist. In the meantime, the cat cries constantly (doesn't seem in pain, just excessive vocalization) he isn't hiding or resting, He seems to want to eat, but will not. He's on anti gagging meds and stuff for his tummy (including Pepsid AC). He now has upper respiratory stuff going on (herpes due to stress? xray shows clear lungs). My feelings are that he could have either intestinal cancer or pancreatitis. Anyway, I thought I'd ask siamese owners or anyone else if there are any other things it could be. I know siamese have sensitive tummies, anything else we should be concerned about? Tests we should have done, etc? My sis is in love with this cat (as we all are) and we're anxiously trying to save him. Luckily she works at home so she can be there monitoring his health, and forcefeed him several small meals a day. She now knows how to administer fluids to prevent dehydration. Any help you have will be appreciated.

thanks,

Lisa S.
