My 4-year old cat was just diagnosed with subcutaneous lymphosarcoma, intermediate cell type. She had a mass removed from her right thigh, along with the lymph node in the right groin. The lab report shows clean borders on the tissue that was excised.

My vet is getting me an appointment with an oncology specialist later this week, but in the meantime I am hoping you can give me an idea what to expect. I don't want to put my cat through chemo or whatever, if all it'll do is give her a few extra weeks of an uncomfortable existence. She didn't act sick at all prior to diagnosis (I took her to the vet because of the lump that appeared on her leg, not because of any behavioral changes) and other than having to recover from pretty extensive surgery, she seems okay. I also have to deal with limited funds -- I've spent about $800 so far, and am not really in a position to spend a whole lot more, particularly if there's little hope.

I'd appreciate any advice/thoughts about what I can expect for my cat.
