My 9 month old kitten has had his lower lip swell significantly twice in the past 3 months. It must be somewhat irritated because he holds his mouth open (looking surprised). He is still eating and playing, but while resting looks uncomfortable. The last time the swelling went down on it's own and the vet hasn't seen anything wrong. He said I should see if it goes down again. I don't see any sign that he's eaten it and it's a hanging plant, but could chewing a philodendron leaf make his lip swell? I can't think of anything else that could be doing it unless he's eating our garbage again.
