Obviously it's something more or even different than hookworms. If you are fostering through an organization, then there may be a vet who does work for free as a service to them. See if you can get mom and kittens tested for parasites.

As for your own cat, she needs a follow-up visit to the vet. I'm not sure if you'd be comfortable going to a different vet, but if your regular vet is blowing this off, then you should. There MUST be a stool culture done for all possible worms and parasites. Period.

No more wormers until you know exactly what is going on. Definitely nothing over-the-counter or the cats could get extremely ill.
