Hi There,

Your questions are difficult to answer, as every case is different and it all depends on the exact location and size of the polyp. The surgery can range from very minor to quite major. Some polyps can literally be snipped out, others would require very major surgery. Some will grow, other's won't, and a small amount may become cancerous.

If I had a cat with an easily-removeable polyp, I would have it done. If extensive surgery were required, I would get a second opinion before making any decisions. I would consider the age and general health of the cat first.

Another option would be to just observe the polyp for changes, but this may require anesthesia on a regular basis. If the polyp can be accessed using a scope, this would be a reasonable next step. It's possible that it can even be removed through the scope.

Sorry that I cannot give you more specific info, but there are just so many possibilities here.

Take care, and please keep us updated.

Regards,
PHKitkat
