Sit very, very still. If you have fleas, you'll feel them travel across your scalp. It's unique, once you figure it out, you'll never mistake it. And you'll have very specific itchy spots, just like a skeeter bite.

Since your cat had so few the first vet missed them, I wouldn't worry. He is being treated, you wash, the fleas are losing.
