Hi There,

A "rodent ulcer" is made up of eosinophils, which are white blood cells that increase when parasites or allergies are present. These ulcers are considered to be allergic in origin and are treated with a long-term steroid. Every case is different......some cats may need an injection monthly while others may only need it once or twice a year.

I believe that originally, cats were thought to get these ulcers from rodents.........hence the nickname.

Regards,
PHKitkat
