This is a pretty sensitive topic for me.
My in laws have a cat whose fur actually GROWS IN matted. She was like that from the day she was born, and because of this, her back legs can't move very well, and it's hard for her to walk.
They took her to a groomer ONE TIME, and the groomer shaved her very well, but also shaved her WHISKERS OFF! Now her whiskers grow in a sort of curly pattern.
My question is, how do you take care of this? I have insisted over and over and over again that they TAKE HER TO A VET to see what can be done. They refuse, because they're afraid to find out what's really wrong with her. I bought them a very expensive pair of trimmers ($140) to help cut her hair, but they use them maybe once every three months and only shave part of her body. They say they can't handle shaving her themselves because she starts to throw a fit, and will gnaw on her tongue until it bleeds. They've tried to use the calming meds, but they don't work at all. They also won't take her to another groomer because of the last situation (when they brought her home she wouldn't eat for days or come out from under the bed).
What can I do to help this poor cat?
