Bentley is my resident "scarf & barfer"...he did it this morning actually...comes out of the cat room then two feet later "blech" he threw up on the kitchen area rug...happened so fast I missed it...just was left with the pile...(which in my home is a tasty treat to Trysta if I don't get it up quick enough)...

But...I actually get very excited and happy when any of the cats hacks up a hairball...as disgusting as they are...

no, I am not a freak...and my home is spotless despite the zoo I have accumulated, but two years ago..when Fin was about 8 mos.he could not get a hairball up and it went into his digestive tract and got stuck...a week back and forth to the vet, 2 enimas, and roughly $1000 later it finally passed through...he was in a lot of pain and became so ill, we though he might die...a year before that Bentley ate a wad of thread from my embroidery machine it got lodged and a $1500 emergency surgery and a lot of prayers later...he recovered.

So as strange as it sounds...please be very happy when a hairball or random foreign object comes up...the small mess is really much better than the alternative...trust me...
