Some of my friends think I am crazy. I do ask them to take their shoes off when they visit (do you ask your guests?). I have a lighter colored carpet in the condo and it really helps it last... Some of my neighbors that moved in when I did 6 1/2 years ago have nasty looking carpet -- they've commented they wished they'd adopted my shoes off motto. I am pretty emphatic in this new place (not as much in the old apartment). Exception -- I'd never ask a plumber or electrician or someone working on the condo remove their shoes... Safety and that...
