My Mom has never gotten me tradtional gifts for Christmas. Usually something unusual I love and have not heard of. This year, she got me Green Bags. Heard of them?

They are the produce bags you can buy (transparent green in color) that you put produce in and it slows ripening significantly.

Well, I've been experimenting on bananas. As you know, you buy them at the store green, by the first stoplight they are yellow, and when you get home, black-brown...

Actually, I get mine very green on Saturday, they are green, but mostly yellow and good on Monday and Tuesday, very yellow and slightly soft on Wednesday, and mostly brown by Thursday.

Well, with these bags, they stay green for a week! Still green the next Saturday. So, I take a couple out at a time to ripen and eat those next two days and can enjoy perfect bananas all week long, none brown...

I will use on other fruits and anticipate the same good results. They aren't too expensive and you can use them 8 times per bag. I think Mom got something like 20 for $10, I don't know... But they get many uses each... You can get them online (she got them on Amazon.com, I've seen on QVC).

Thought I'd share if you are tired of bananas, strawberries, mushrooms, etc., going bad within a week...
