>>For us, in the blizzard of '78, we got 3 ft of snow and it took 3 days for us to get plowed out. The old New Englanders get panicked now, and every storm they think is gonna be the big blizzard.
Well, today we are in round three of the blizzard. This has been going on for the entire month of January and now on into February. I've lived in Iowa for 68 years and this is the worst that I've ever seen. It hits, buries us in snow, the whole city slows down to a crawl, many communities lose power and portions of the interstate shut down, then a week or two later, it repeats the same thing, over and over again. The schools in the Des Moines area have been closed for a total of 5 days so far this season and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't close again tomorrow. Seems like after it buries us, it heads out east and southeast so be prepared.
My grandson, Josh, has been here for over a week, laying ceramic tile, painting, repairing, installing new toilets, hanging new lights throughout the house and when the weather clears up, we're going to go look at granite countertops. He used to install those too. He's very skilled and I'm lucky that he's helping me like he is. Oh, we're going to look at those fancy bathroom sinks too. My house is looking brand new again. ----- Ruby and the Kitties Simba, Samantha, Katrina & KatyKatt
