I recently took my cat to the vet for retaining urine for over a day. They hospitalized her and tested for for anything that could be causing this. The tests showed that she is perfectly healthy and could not find a reason that she is not peeing. She had previously been on Prozac for peeing outside the litter box. When she came home from the vet, she was able to urinate on her own very well until about 10 hours later. So now she hasn't urinated for almost 24 hours. She is on prednisolone, Bethanechol and Prazosin to help stimulate the nerves that help her urinate. The vet thinks it is a problem with her nerves. She is only 6 years old. She has not deficated either. She is also taking Clindacure to prevent infection. She has not had Prozac for 6 days. I have her on a heating pad right now..hoping to relax her bladder muscles. She does not strain to urinate. She simply does not go. She looks very uncomfortable. The vet suggests that she be put to sleep if she doesn't urinate on her own. She did urinate for a day, and stopped again. They are at a loss and so am I. I don't want to loose her. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
