The objective is to keep his urinary tract clear of bacteria, have a more dilute uring, and give it the right pH. Mucous in the urine is indicative of inflammation, usually caused by bacteria or by crystals. So, stop all dry food, add water to his food, and also add salt, to encourage him to drink. In addition, add 1/8 tsp of d-mannose to his food at each meal. His urine pH should be 6.0-6.5. If it is not in this range, put him on meat.
