He doesn't need a special diet, but he should never have dry food. To help dissolve the crystals, add water to his canned food so that it is fairly soupy, and salt to get him to drink even more. Do this for a couple of weeks in order to dissolve all the crystals. I would also add 1/8 tsp of d-mannose to his food at each meal to eliminate any bacteria, for at least 2 weeks. The sneezing may be do to his treatment, or he may have picked up an upper respiratory infection. It is not necessary to continue to feed canned food, as meat or chicken, with the bones, along with cod liver oil and plain yogurt will provide all the nutrients he needs.
