Yes it is. Are they called that anymore? Are they now all oreganus?

I have encountered oreganus from Nothern Cal, a few of them. They were rather placid snakes. A true southern pacific is one spicey animal when warmed up.

Glad to hear you see them as well. Palos Verdes has seen a decline in the number of species of snakes due to habitat fragmentation and the near elimination of the non-native grassland. One good thing is that many people are now respecting the snakes - letting them be. Culture change I guess. People would rather get an iPhone pic than try to molest the snake.
