I recently purchased a 9-month old Leachie which is so far very easy to pick up and hold, though I only do it about twice a week for about 10 minutes at a time. I don't intend to hold him more than this, so as not to stress him out.

I bought him on-line from a reputable breeder, who suggested that I keep him in a small (~7 gallon) Perilite tub, to match what he was being kept in. I've matched his previous enclosure as closely as I could in order to reduce shipping and transition stress. This includes the size & shape of the Perilite tub, cypress mulch substrate, cork bark hollow, humidity and temp.

The breeder told me that very often with Leachies who are used to the semi-opaque sides of a Perilite tub, they will stress out and stop eating when put into a similarly-sized terrarium (such as Exo-Terra), even if the terrarium is modified to hold in the same humidity as the tub, and no lights are added on top. -- I took this to mean that the semi-opaque sides of the Perilite tub give more of a secure feeling to the Leachies than do the clear sides of a glass terrarium.

Anyone have any input or experience with this? I prefer to move him into a similarly sized/shaped terrarium in a month or so, but will not do it to the animal's detriment.
