Im looking for any experience experience keepers may have with male combat. physical aggression with green tree pythons. I had a young male literally try to kill a much larger male (Jayapura) - something I had not seen before. Any literature that addresses this?

Thanks -

Hi Joe,

You likely realize that GTPs can be individualistic when it comes to their temperament in captivity. I’ve not observed combat in male GTPs like I have male JCPs.

Last fall I accidentally paired two male m.viridis, they actually locked twice lol. They mostly chased eachother around the cage and would perch away from eachother when resting. I’ve observed similar behavior with two females only they never tried the twisty tale locks like the males tried.

Anyway, that’s my observations on the topic. Hope you are doing well and glad to see ya here in the kjngsnake forums.
