Thursday my entire station (police) was put on full emergency alert status because of Hurricane Charley. (I'm in Manatee County Florida) My Ball Python rescue, Monty, had started wheezing ever so slightly, so I left him at the vet's office before going on duty because I knew we'd be on duty 24/7 for possibly a week. Our county took minor losses (Thank the powers that be), so I was allowed off duty Tues. am. I called the vet to be enroute to pick Monty up, and they told me they lost him! Talk about being upset, oh man I was already stressed as it was.

I grabbed a flashlight & went to the clinic. I spent over 3 hours searching every nook & cranny over 1/2" wide. I looked in computers, x-ray rooms, drawers, behind refrigerators, under washers, boxes, I even looked in occupied dog runs, you name it-I looked there. What disturbs me big time is in the process I found 5 holes (plumbing/wiring) that lead to the interior walls of that building, and possibly outside? If he got out theres a good chance he won't make it because he has stitches on his belly from the surgury where I initially rescued him in June. (back then we went thru surgury, 3 infections, two weeks in incubator, dehydration-name it...no internal parasites tho'..yay)

Also that clinic sits near an old folks "we retired in Florida" trailer park, and I know those suckers see a snake & grab a shovel thinking Water Moccasin! If he didn't get outside & dropped down into an interior hollow wall: what are the odds of him finding his way out? All I can think about is him starving to death & dehydrating in a wall.

So here I am posting in an area I'd hoped I'd never be posting in.

Anyone had anything similar happen?
