Hi,

I posted a while back about my Florida softshell's skeleton being all pointy and noticing reddish tinges on the underbelly. I did some research and was wondering if it's a dietary issue, meaning he's either eating too much and gaining too much muscle/fat before his skeleton can catch up, or the other way around. The back edge of his shell is also very flimsy--it droops when I take him out of the water. I also noticed a strand of stringy white stuff that was coming out of his anus a few months ago. I had wondered whether it was a tapeworm and perhaps robbing him of necessary nutrients.

He's in quarantine now under a UVB light. Appetite still great and behavior active. No whitish spots indicating fungus. I hope the reddish tinge isn't septicemia. I plan to take him to the vet soon but I would still like to hear some advice/suggestions. Thanks.
