First I think many in stores are wild caught.

I do not use any heat on mine, BUT... and this is the only reason, I have my pair in a 65 gallon reptarium, in my reptile room. There are many ohter lights going for my other lizards.

The room stays in the upper 80's and they seem fine. I do use a reptisun 5.0 uvb light over top their cage. The key to these guys I believe is keeping them misted atleast 2 times a day.

When I first got an emerald over 5 yuears ago I kept the temps way up with a heat light, like the care sheets suggest, and I lost him fairly fast.

I think they dehydrate to quick in hot temps. I keep mine cooler and they thrive. Breed all the time.

This is all my opinion from my experiences and what I see with mine
