If you owned pet rats, it would be a different story. We had pet rats in a cage, and a ball python that got out. He struck at the rats nose through the bars and coiled against the side of the cage. It was really freaky. I don't remember how we got him off, but if he hadn't let go, he probably could have suffocated her, even without being wrapped around her. And he was only a yearling-ish.

Maybe try a glass tank with a sliding lid and a pin-lock for the snake. And get a third eye to watch the cats
