I've recently purchased a 3 mos old redfoot. I noticed last night that when you turn him upside down and look at his underside (sorry, I don't know all the correct words yet), instead of his shell being flat, the line that runs from his head to tail was raised slightly. It was not like that when we got him. I just added wet spagnum moss yesterday in his home and when I checked him this mornining, his shell had flattened out almost all the way. Could it be that he wasn't getting enought humidity? He is kept indoors in a box about 3' long x 18" wide by 6" high. I have a basking light on one end along with a glass pie plate for soaking. He has a covered shoe box to go into. I thought the water from the bowl would give him enough moisture, but apparently not. Also, I try to give him calcium w/D3 in his food, but he seems to know when I add it and doesn't want to eat the food. I'm going today to get him a UVB light also. Thanks for any information.
