I don't keep any now, but did for thirteen years, breeding my original pair, as well as some of their offspring. They get bigger than Pituophis..around eight feet max. They do spread a hood, but don't stand high like Naja. They are voracious feeders. Be careful at feeding time. Anything in or near the cage at that time is liable to be bitten. Young snakes, in my experience, are more likely to be nippy than adults. Bites are uncommon, & may not be life threatening, although the jury's still out on that. The venom is potent, but the delivery system is poor at best. If you are bitten, I would recommend against allowing the snake to hang on & chew.
