I am often asked to provide a list of the new names that we proposed back in 1984 and 1985 along with their etymologies so here they are should anyone be so inclined...

Australiasis Wells and Wellington, 1984 (Reptilia, Pythonidae) – a group of snakes from Australasia. The name Australiasis embodies the previous use of Liasis for this group with austral (southern).
