My husband built an enclosure for my redfoot tortoises (according to my design) from maple plywood lined and topped with acrylic (lighter than plexiglass and doesn't crack or yellow easily). The dome is supported by wardrobe wire shelfing and covered with loose acrylic panels, that can be opened or closed according to humidity requirements.
The enclosure is equipped with a misting system, UVA and UVB lighting and ceramic heat emitters on thermostats.
If you go for a simpler design (constructing it simply straight instead of this bent unit) it shouldn't be that demanding to build and I can only recommend it, as it works very well technically and looks very pretty on top!
So maybe it is giving you some ideas!
