I remember getting about 100 plants for about $15 before one winter, hoping they were edible, and after mixed research, deciding against it. I can't recall the sources, but a quick search yielded this: http://www.iguanas.cl/htm/toxic.htm

It may not kill an animal that eats it, but I'd worry about long-term organ damage (liver, esp) if it's a continuous food, IF it is toxic (it may not be, but unless I'm sure, I stay on the safe side).
