From the photo it looks like his nails are fine.

Try to have rock surfaces in his enclosure. They like to dig and scrape around and the rock helps wear down the nails. Also, if you keep him outdoors at all he will dig around enough to keep trim.

My males rarely if ever eat cuttlebone, but the females will.

I try to feed them tough, chewy foods every once in awhile to help wear down the beak. Things like carrot and the stems of collard greens. Also most weeds are tougher than the typical grocery greens. Putting the food on a rock or slate surface may help.
