What is the problem with getting the eggs too wet?

Has anyone personally had an egg go bad after getting it wet?

In the Book called "The Reproductive Husbandry of Pythons and Boas" by Richard Ross it states differently on page 96.

The book says that it is only true in the case of Chondropython viridis.

They say they normally mist the eggs.

What is everyone elses experience?
