This whole group of Pythons: Childrens, Spotted and Stimpson's in the wild eats all they will eat for a whole year in a few months in most natural locations. So like the Childrens Python have moved to inhabited areas so feed for a longer period until the temp gets too low.

So as a group these Pythons have a big appitite.

P.S. The distraction method is the standard method of capturing. A secondary method is to cover the snake, at least the head, with a towel or cloth. Then picking the snake up mid body with the towel or cloth, let the snake move from the cloth to your other hand and let the towel drop away. Avoid pinching the neck, get in the habit of holding the snake by the body not the neck. Most snakes will bite and let go with little damage, unless it is a feeding responce. If bitten resist the reflex of jerking away, it breaks the teeth from the snake [which could lead to infections, mouth infections in snakes could be the death of the snake] and some of thouse teeth will stick in you!
