I prefer to use sand/topsoil mix about 60/40 mix. It works great and they love it, good for absorbing heat and keeping the humidity low in the enclosure.Remember to use something to place under feed plate to discourage the chance of getting the sand in there food.I use a 12" x 12" piece of ceramic tile.
